It is vital to take every opportunity to stand up and move around - I call this exercise snacking. Just like you would snack on fruit or some nuts, you can do the same with movement. It is all about creating a habit as if you are used to not standing up and moving regularly it will take time and a nudge to do so.
Habits are formed by consistently repeating something enough times that it becomes and unconscious process - the avenues that you create in your life the more likely it will become part of who you are.
Stand whenever possible, move around when you get a change and even fidget to stay active.
